Schools should work together
Editor, Index-Tribune:
I am a young widowed mother. My husband died when my daughter was 3-1/2
years old. When it came time for her to go to school, I was nervous
about making the right choice. I chose Woodland Star Charter School and
it has been for the past four years, and continues to be, a blessing
for us. I have never met a kinder, more generous and supportive group
of people. School board candidate Helen Marsh said that charter schools
are taking away enrollment from the other schools. I am a prime example
of why this is not true. If it were not for Woodland Star I would be
home-schooling my daughter, a tough task for someone in my position.
Choice shouldn't promote fear of not having enough. The "You win, I
lose" mentality is not beneficial to anyone. As school board candidate
Nicole Abaté Ducarroz says, we are all here to work together, as
a community.
